Family: Chaos and stuffed bellies

What do you get when 40 some Italians get together for dinner?

Chaos and stuffed bellies!

And that’s just what happened tonight when my dads side of the family got together for the annual Cousins Dinner. There is something heart warming about all the loud, crazy chaos that comes from trying to fit a large Italian family into one room. We always leave feeling stuffed, happy and satisfied. Even with all the moans and groans under the breath of not really wanting to go. And even with the water glass spills and bread crumbs all over the place from the kids before dinner is even ordered. And even with the tantrums thrown for not being able to have dessert. Everyone leaves with a fully belly and a smile on their face (maybe it’s from all the wine consumed and not the fellowship, but who really knows…lol).

Tonight’s get together was no different than any in the past. To be honest, this is the first one I have been to in years. I am not quite sure how long it’s been, 4 or maybe 5 years, but I do know nothing has changed. Same restaurant, same room, same menu, same faces (give or take a few new ones) same hugs, stories and lots of love to go around! We may not see each other often, but when we do it’s like we never skipped a beat…missed a moment…lost touch. It’s amazing! It’s refreshing! It’s encouraging! It’s loving! It’s FAMILY!

I love my large, loud, chocolate loving, pasta eating, chaotic, Italian family!
